The Great Plastics Recycling Initiative

I didn't find out until late, but today and Friday, from 10 am to 12 pm at the Wilk, the BYU Democrats are collecting plastics to be recycled, since BYU doesn't have a plastic recycling bin on campus.

Recycling seems to be a taboo word within the Mormon Utah culture, which is somewhat ridiculous. How do you slander recycling? How do you make reusing raw materials to increase efficiency in our use of resources into an evil thing? I'm not sure, but somehow, conservatives have done it and admitting you recycle can bring the wrath of many students on your head.

One kid declared that if I recycled, then I must surely support abortion. I'm still trying to figure that one out.

I definitely plan on going to this one. That's why I like the BYU Democrats. For the most part, they're willing to get off their duffs and do things. The only things that the BYU Republicans do is usually host lavish parties in opposition to BYU Democrat events, which I find highly appropriate for the Republicans anyway. I guess I can't complain.
