I was cooking some rice over the stovetop the traditional way for some stuffed peppers. I knew ten minutes had already went by and needed a timer to let me know when the next ten minutes had passed.
So I popped up World of Warcraft and cast Blessing of Might on my paladin, left to do something else and watched for the 10 minute duration to wear off.
Edit: Until some moron cast the same spell on me, reseting my 10 minute counter and ruining my geeky plans.
It's a common curteousy to cast spells players don't have on them as they walk by, since it's one way to give a good benefit to someone who normally wouldn't have a way to get it. However, casting a spell on someone who already has the ability to cast it on themselves is rather moronic. I hate my server.

Weeelll.. I totally understand where you're coming from (did it actually ruin your rice?), but it's not like re-casting a spell on someone is that moronic. If the spell's halfway up, then they don't have to cast it again for that much longer. Even if the spell's freshly cast, it's not like it hurts the caster at all to do it. It's pointless, and yes, I agree a medium between being nice and being pointless needs to be struck. But it's not like the guy knew you were using your spell as a rice timer. Don't take it out on your entire server over a little burned rice.
...hmm.. I think I'm going to propose that "don't whine over burned rice" should totally be the updated version of the spilled milk idiom.
