Dantzel and I have recently revitalized our zeal for amateur cooking, and so we spent about thirty minutes flipping through my cookbooks, pointing out recipes we want to try and jotting down page numbers. I also bought a new spice for my spice collection (Mediteranean oregano leaves. As if normal oregano wasn't good enough!). I started buying a spice every pay check when I got home from my mission to build up a spice collection. This project lost steam around springtime, but I have recently picked it up again, and so this uncommonly common herb now joins the family of spices chilling in my kitchen.
I have also dusted off my camera and loaded it up with some fresh batteries to take pictures with. I have never been good at visually documenting my life, which is rather strange since I am somewhat of a hackneyed artist. But I have (once again) resolved to improve my picture taking and post some on this humble blog.
Like this one. Aww! So cute! Dantzel naps after perusing a cookbook.
Obviously, these two endeavors go hand in hand, since we will be digitally and visually recording our cooking escapades. Recently, Dantzel and Ephraim made sugar cookies for Christmas, which resulted in this dish.
One cookie stands out in particular - the cookie of which we wrote the Korean word for bear (and most likely, it is spelled wrong).
Obviously, this blog will come nothing close to anything like The Smitten Kitchen, which is one of the most amazing food blogs ever. We cannot compare to its artistic shots and wonderful cooking skills. I envy the people over there greatly. Someday, perhaps Dantzel and I will also achieve such greatness. But it will not be this semester. Or the next either, most likely.
